Satin Bowerbird (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus)

Male Satin Bowerbirds (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus) are known for their decorative bowers and East Coast Ecology’s ecologist was fortunate to come across one during a flora and fauna assessment. It was bittersweet to find the stunning bower only to realise that it was decorated primarily with blue plastic the bird must have found in its environment.
